What if I were to tell you we are all gods? That’s how I begin my new memoir, The Gods of Clown Alley, a story of self healing after a debilitating depression that triggers suicidal thoughts and sparks a spiritual awakening with the realization that George Lucas was right, the Force is real, and we all have the power to heal.
What is the Book About?
During a wellness retreat in Sedona, Arizona, my mother and I attend mind-body-spirit workshops as we struggle with depression and heartache. In this true story, we travel the world together inspired by our favorite books and films searching for love, meaning, and happiness as we awaken our awareness and remember our divinity. With the influence of artists such as John Lennon, Ernest Hemingway, and Vincent Van Gogh, in addition to the unforgettable cast of my mother’s homecare patients introduced under the big tent, I reveal the secrets of surviving this circus called life using the universal wisdom of Star Wars.
Why am I Sharing this Story?
Lots of folks are silently suffering in so many ways while their hearts learn to accommodate grief. In sharing this story, I hope to inspire others to begin to heal their own wounded hearts. I’ve discovered that each obstacle and heartache we experience is a lesson our souls set out to learn here at Earth School, essential lessons on love, forgiveness, patience, and compassion. Through my storytelling, I reveal how I learned to transform pain into love, like an artisan who uses tools in her workshop to create. We all have the power to heal and create, therefore I believe we are all gods co-creating with the universe. We just have to remember to release the multitude of fears that restrict our growth. We need to remind ourselves to pick up our yellow crayons again to color our lives with light. This is a story of heartache and healing. This is a story of mental health and mindfulness. This is a story for anyone who forgot who they are and why they came to the circus.
When and Where is the Book Available?
The book is available for pre-order in December for a January 2023 launch on Amazon. I will be performing a concert and book signing in May during Mental Health Awareness month in NYC, but if you’d like a signed copy before that, feel free to email me directly. I look forward to sharing the stories and life lessons in person at upcoming workshops and presentations, so if your community would like me to visit, please reach out.
I’m also doing a book signing with my mom in Ireland at the May the 4th Be With You film festival in Kerry, so if you’d like to join us on one of our mother-daughter adventures, check out the details here through Caddie Tours. Deposits for the May 1-10, 2023 tour to Ireland are due in January, and space is limited (on the tour, not in the galaxy…there are no limits to our imaginations!)
May the Force be with you, and as the Irish say, may the road rise to meet you.
